If you take highway A8 amd go 25 kilometres south from Paneve ys you will See a tall church tower an the right. lt is a tiny town called Ramygala.

The most exciting thing about Ramygala is how rauch there is to See here. History lovers will admire the oldest patt of the town. Ramygala is famous for the specific street net, historic buildings in the centre and a radial plan of Hie main square whieli has naturally developed from a linear one in Hic 19`h century. Now the square looks Iike an irregular oval.
One or two storied buildings dominate in the verdure of Ramygala's historic townscape.
The narre Ramygala was ferst mentioned in primary sources in the 13U' century.
The first church was beeng constructed from 1431 to 1500. At the beginneng of the 16`" century Ramygala was a real town with an estate, Shops, church, prison and a System of roads conneeting her with other towns of Lithuania.
The heart arid Ornament of out town is the neogothic one tower church of St. John die Baptist built in 1897-I914 designed by Karl Stranduran.
For sightseers there is a black granite monument to the volunteers who perished in the war. The centre of thc square is decorated by the monument to the vietlins of the soviet genocide constructed by the sculptor K. Kisielius and architeet V. tekanauskas. lt comprises archaic motives - swords arranged in a fan and stabbed in Hic heart
of the victim - a modern tigure of a man suffering extreme pair. A tiny Eigute of a child symbolizes a sparkle cif hope surviving any torture.
The first school in Ramygala started working in 1781; in 1935 it was reformed into a
gymnasium. During the soviet period (in 1949) lt was called a secondary school. A kindergarten was opened in 1950.
Ramygala is proud of its post Office trat started working in 1895, chemist's opened in
1888, a bookshop, a library which is also the headquarters of community, a hospital, a historic museum of Ramygala country and a Stadium.
Thc town has several Shops, a bakery and two banks. The uniquc motor mill built before World War II is still working Culture lovers may be interested in activities organized by teachers and students of Ramygala school as well as Culture Centre manv of which haue become traditional. The most famous of them is "Palepes teatras" (An Attic Theatre).
You can meet interesting people and go to concerts or exhibitions that take place either in the Culture Centre, in thc library or in the ball of Local Government. Alternativcly, Sports fans can find spart Clubs "Pagreitis" (Acceleration) and "Jaunyste" (Youth) in Ramygala.
An exciting festival is held in our park every summer - it is the Town Day that attracts thousands 'of local people or those who used to live here söme time before. lt is fall of
interesting activities for every persona a competition of young artists and a cycle rate for
children, a basketball tournament, a driving race and a weightlifting tontest for adults and a merry festival wich live music and dancing till Small hours for everyone.
