Joint Declaration on Establishment of

European Stork City Organisation

Staicele, April 28, 2001

European Stork City Organisation is an international organisation, joining European towns and cities, which have a stork in their coat of arms. The organisation has the objective of building a close, permanent and active relationship among towns in Western und Eastern Europe.

The official representatives of the member towns:
Jā?nis Bakmanis,  Chairman of Staicele Town Council (Latvia)
Vasyl Vovk,  Chairman of Executive Committee of Busk Town Council (Ukraine)
Alexander Szaniszlo, Chairman of Komarovce Local Government (Slovakia)
Antonin Vrzaček,  Vice Chairman of Luka nad Jihlavou Local Government
(Czech Republic)
Sergej Sidarevich, Vice Chairman of Executive Committee of Stolin District (Belarus)
Werner Krumbein, Tourism Manager of Storkow Community Association (Germany)
 

      have concluded the present declaration for the following:

1. To establish the European Stork City Organisation with the aim of developing mutual co-operation and share the experience in economics, culture, tourism, education, environmental protection and social work.

2. To agree on the main tasks of the European Stork City Organisation:
- To build a communication network in Europe through economical and cultural
communication;
- To share the experience, develop and introduce environmentally friendly
policies;
- To develop co-operation among enterprises in the member towns;
- No consolidate the democracy through the co-operation among schools, NGOs,
 local artists etc.;
- To promote the preservation of the living countryside and strengthen the
 identity of the countryside;
- To involve the society, especially young people and schoolchildren in
 international nature protection, culture and sports programmes;
- To organise the network of nature protection experts, international nature
protection conferences and exhibitions;
- To develop co-operation in tourism, art and culture, organising exhibitions and events in member towns.

3. To define the terms of the participation in the European Stork City Organisation 
Every town or city in Western or Eastern Europe that has a stork in its coat of arms
can become a member of the organisation.
 

4. To determine the function of the European Stork City Organisation
The organisation is built as a network organisation, Staicele (Latvia) being the main co-ordinator of the organisation. The annual meetings and events are organised on a rotation principal.

6. To define the fee of the participation in the European Stork City Organisation
The annual membership fee is $ 100. The funding is used to cover the basic administrative costs.
